Meeting of Frontiers is a bilingual, multimedia English-Russian digital library that tells the story of the American exploration and settlement of the West, the parallel exploration and settlement of Siberia and the Russian Far East, and the meeting of the Russian-American frontier in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest

It is designed to provide teachers, students, and scholars with primary source materials concerning Juan Bautista de Anza and his two historic 18th century expeditions from northern Sonora to northern California, leading to the colonization of San Francisco.

The animated atlas allows the student to watch the growth of the United States decade by decade, either all at once or in sections (1789-1853, 1853-1865, 1865-1959). The emphasis is on the addition of states one by one. (An expanded version is available as software.)
