After receiving my Ph.D. in chemistry, I spent 25 years working in the chemical industry. I worked on numerous projects ranging from development of consumer products to basic science research. During that period, I authored a number of US patents and articles for technical journals. After retiring from industry, I obtained a teaching license and spent 5 years teaching chemistry, physical science, and earth science in high school.
I really enjoy working with students to help them understand a basic concept in science. Helping a student with a problem that may appear impossible to solve is gratifying. Not only does the student learn how to solve the specific problem, but the student also learns that complex problems can be dealt with by being persistent and applying logic.
