Career Experience

I began my teaching career educating middle school children in China. I went over to further my studies in Chinese language and culture, but I found a love for teaching. After returning to the states, I graduated college and began to pursue a teaching credential and Master's Degree in California. While in California, I substituted in high schools while earning my teaching degree. After attaining this degree, I moved cross country to Georgia and finally found myself in my own classroom teaching 8th grade English. I loved it. Once two years had passed though, my husband and I moved to Kentucky and I found another job teaching 6th grade English. I enjoyed the challenge of a new grade level and soon realized that I was well suited to work with my new level of student. Within a year and a half of teaching in Kentucky, my husband's job drove us on and this time we were back in California. This time I took my time going back into the classroom full time and decided to work with children after school in a tutoring capacity. Soon we were to move again, this time back to my first teaching assignment: Georgia. Here I was assigned to teach 4th grade English. A year later I was moved to a more permanent position in the 5th grade. I stayed there for 5 years. But with the birth of my child, I decided to take some time off of teaching to focus on my family.

I Love Tutoring Because

I can better connect with students on a one to one level. This is where I have found that listening to your students makes all the difference.

She was great and showed where to make corrections in an easy to follow way. She changed the color, made the word bold, and left comments. Great experience.
