Tutor.com Partners With Coahoma Community College to Provide Expansive 24/7 Student Support

NEW YORK, July 21, 2021 /— Tutor.com, one of the world's largest online tutoring services, today announced that Coahoma Community College, a comprehensive Mississippi institution of higher learning committed to serving as a catalyst for community and economic development, has partnered with Tutor.com to provide 24/7 online tutoring services for the school’s 1,300 students.

Through the partnership, Coahoma students can access on-demand, 1-to-1 learning support from Tutor.com's expert tutors. With offerings spanning more than 250 subjects available at any time day or night, Tutor.com enables students to access encouraging, effective help in academic as well as career/technical topics—often connecting within seconds. Students may also utilize Tutor.com’s drop-off writing and resume/cover letter review services, with turnaround times of fewer than 12 hours.

“We are delighted to partner with Coahoma Community College and honored to serve students who are managing not only their academic pursuits, but also extracurricular, professional, and family obligations,” said Jim Barnes, Vice President of Higher Education, Tutor.com. “As we worked with Coahoma leadership to develop Coahoma’s program, we were impressed by the commitment of the administration to better meet students’ needs, and of the students to succeed through the challenges of the past year.”

“The biggest benefit of choosing Tutor.com is accessibility,” said Patrick Johnson, Coordinator of Tutorial Services, Coahoma Community College. Access to Tutor.com is provided via Canvas; students can find all the resources they need in one centralized platform.

Karen Woods-Dome, Coahoma’s Director of Student Engagement, emphasized the importance of providing support to eliminate barriers to student success: “Prior to the adoption of this new platform, we recognized academic gaps and identified barriers to student success and ultimately graduation. We want to provide every opportunity to alleviate those barriers.”

Students are already accessing the service, many for help in overcoming math barriers. Students additionally have on-demand access to bilingual Spanish offerings, student success subjects, health sciences topics, and career support. Beyond live tutoring and review services, students can access video lessons, quizzes, practice graduate entrance exams, and other resources in Tutor.com’s SkillsCenter Resource Library. Members of the Coahoma community can also attend Tutor.com’s periodic no-cost webinars featuring expert insights into improving study habits, launching successful careers, and other topics of interest.

The partnership provides faculty and administrators with early alerts for struggling students as well as access to real-time data and analytics through Tutor.com’s Client Portal, a dashboard featuring immediate displays of tutoring session activity. There, they can get actionable data to address curricular challenges and provide just-in-time support for students who need it.
