Tutor.com and Santa Maria-Bonita School District Partner Up to Support K–8 Students

NEW YORK and SANTA MARIA, May 19, 2021 /— Tutor.com, one of the world's largest online tutoring services, is delighted to announce that Santa Maria-Bonita School District, the largest school district in Santa Barbara County, California, has selected Tutor.com to provide online tutoring services for 16,500 students in grades K–8 across the district’s 21 schools.

Through the partnership, students enrolled in Santa Maria-Bonita district schools can access 24/7, on-demand, 1-to-1 learning support from Tutor.com's network of more than 3,000 expert tutors. Students can connect quickly to get help in any of 150 subjects, including bilingual Spanish offerings, along with drop-off writing review, practice quizzes, and video lessons.

“It is a privilege to support the Santa Maria-Bonita family—students, parents, and teachers alike,” said Ed Ceja, Area Vice President, Educational Partnerships, Tutor.com. “Our goal is to provide encouraging, uplifting academic support—and in the process, to help students realize and then reach their full potential. In customizing this tutoring program with Santa Maria-Bonita leaders, we were honored to work together to support all district students working toward ambitious academic goals.”

The partnership ensures that students can get support whenever they need it, particularly as Covid-19 scheduling considerations have upended traditional school schedules.

“With hybrid scheduling, Tutor.com has been a great resource to support students on their virtual instruction days,” said Rob Bergan, Director of Expanded Learning Programs, Santa Maria-Bonita School District.

Students have expressed appreciation for the support and patience of the tutors—particularly in math, the most requested subject across Santa Maria-Bonita’s schools.

In addition to supporting students, the partnership also enables district teachers and staff to access real-time data and analytics through Tutor.com’s Client Portal. There, they can view a dashboard with actionable data that allow educators to address curricular challenges and provide just-in-time support for students who need it.
