Tutor.com Adds Sixth Statewide Online
Tutoring Program in North Dakota

NEW YORK, June 22, 2011 – Tutor.com, the leading online homework and tutoring company is now available to every library card-holder in North Dakota. The North Dakota State Library announced Tutor ND (www.tutornd.com) during a press conference today in Bismarck. Dr. Wayne G. Sanstead, State Superintendent of Schools and Hulen E. Bivins, State Librarian announced the program surrounded by local students who will benefit from the service. The North Dakota State Library is funding the program with the assistance of federal funds provided by the Institute of Museums and Library Services.

Students in grades K-12, college students and job seekers can connect to a qualified tutor or career tutor from a computer or mobile device (iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad) for one-to-one, on demand help in math, science, social studies, English, resume help and other career services beginning today. The program will be available every Sunday through Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Central Time. There are no appointments or schedules. Tutors are available online to provide assistance with homework, studying, exam preparation, projects, essays, standardized tests and much more.

“We expect Tutor ND to help the student population of the state to excel as each student shall have the opportunity to increase their skills; the marginal student becomes an achiever and the exceptional student becomes truly outstanding,” said Sanstead.

“All students in North Dakota will benefit from this service including our home-schooled population and college students who are adjusting to a campus setting and the rigors of higher education,” said Bivins.

In just a decade, Tutor.com has become the largest online tutoring service in the U.S. Tutor.com’s on demand tutoring and homework services are available to approximately 11% of all school-age children through their local public library, school, college, U.S. Military affiliation or corporation. Tutor.com now powers online tutoring programs funded by state libraries in six states including Alabama, Alaska, Kansas, Louisiana, North Dakota and Rhode Island. The District of Columbia also offers Tutor.com to every resident with a library card.

“Working with local and state libraries has helped us bring high quality tutoring and career help to millions of students and adults who need this support, but may not have the resources to get it” said George Cigale, founder and CEO of Tutor.com. “When Tutor.com is introduced into a state, residents who use the program see immediate results. This is why State Libraries are funding this service year after year.”

Tutor.com’s network of more than 2,200 highly qualified experts will complete 1.1 million one-to-one online tutoring sessions this school year. Approximately 70% of those sessions will be in challenging math and science coursework that students must complete to be on the track to college.
