Our Company
In 1998, a small group of passionate education and technology professionals led by George Cigale had a terrific URL and a big idea—use the Internet to connect students to tutors for a one-to-one learning session anytime from anywhere. That idea became a reality when the team recruited about a hundred tutors and created one of the first online, interactive classrooms.
Algebra equations, English essays, preparing for a chemistry exam, research projects, state test prep—our tutors can handle it all while empowering students to be their best. Students love the immediate help and the one-to-one experience, and tell us that Tutor.com is helping them improve their grades, complete assignments and build their confidence.
On Demand Tutoring
On Demand means getting help now, the minute you need it. Traditional tutoring and online tutoring companies require a parent to schedule tutoring sessions in advance at a set time, in one subject, once a week. Tutor.com offers on demand, immediate connections to a professional tutor the moment a student needs help—and at the time when they are ready to learn.
Professional Tutors in a Secure Environment
Tutor.com has a network of over 2,000 professional, certified tutors. Our tutors are U.S. and Canadian citizens as well as a select group of International Spanish-speaking tutors who enable us to provide bilingual services. Tutors complete an extensive application and training process that includes completing subject exams, a final exam on tutoring techniques and a mock tutoring session. Every tutor must also pass a thorough third party background check.
All of Tutor.com's services feature proprietary, secure Web environments where students and tutors chat using instant messaging, draw problems on an interactive whiteboard, share a file to review essays and papers and browse educational resources on the web together. Sessions are always anonymous. Every session is recorded and available for review by Tutor.com staff as part of our quality assurance program.
