What does it Say?

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

What does it Mean?

The preamble, or introduction to the United States Constitution, outlines the reasons in which the Constitution was written (to form a more perfect union) and to establish its goals (to make sure all states follow the same rules, to establish a national defense system, and to ensure a free nation forever).
