BENJAMIN (Customer)
[00:00:02] 6+x/-8=2

Justin K (Tutor)
[00:00:13] good evening welcome to tutor.com my name is justin
[00:00:29] I see that you have a question on solving for a variable

BENJAMIN (Customer)
[00:00:47] yes

Justin K (Tutor)
[00:01:07] ok great lets see if I can help
[00:01:17] do you have any idea on how to start this problem?

BENJAMIN (Customer)
[00:01:31] no

Justin K (Tutor)
[00:01:54] ok no problem. lets first write down the problem

BENJAMIN (Customer)
[00:02:04] ok

Justin K (Tutor)
[00:02:46] does that look correct?

BENJAMIN (Customer)
[00:03:56] this is my first time using this program.
[00:04:06] can you see my work?

Justin K (Tutor)
[00:04:13] no problem. the whiteboard takes some getting used to
[00:04:15] yes i can
[00:04:38] so our main goal here is to get x all by itself on one side of the equation

BENJAMIN (Customer)
[00:04:54] If you have written something I cannot see it

Justin K (Tutor)
[00:05:44] hmmmm...you cant see what I just wrote?

BENJAMIN (Customer)
[00:06:07] no - can't see it.

Justin K (Tutor)
[00:07:09] it sounds like there is a problem with the program and you might need to contact support but I think I can help you with this problem without using the board

BENJAMIN (Customer)
[00:07:39] Great

Justin K (Tutor)
[00:08:01] so we need to get x all by itself
[00:09:17] the first thing we need to do is move the 6 to the other side of the equation

BENJAMIN (Customer)
[00:09:35] should we subtract 6 from both sides?

Justin K (Tutor)
[00:09:43] exactly! great job

BENJAMIN (Customer)
[00:10:16] Now should we multiply both sides by -8?

Justin K (Tutor)
[00:10:31] you got it
[00:10:49] so we have x=(2-6) x -8
[00:11:04] so what will x equal?

BENJAMIN (Customer)
[00:11:44] Is x = 32?

Justin K (Tutor)
[00:11:57] thats right. great job!

BENJAMIN (Customer)
[00:12:28] Thanks Justin, think I can handle a few on my own now.

Justin K (Tutor)
[00:12:46] It was my pleasure helping out. Have a great evening!
