Our tutors are available 24/7 so students never need an appointment. Students can start a session whenever they need help—whether it’s factoring a polynomial at midnight or proofreading an essay before school—and work with a real, live expert tutor in our secure online classroom for as little or as much time as they need. Tutors can help students in grades 4-12 in math, science, history and English.
Spreading the word about Tutor.com
We have two options for you to make a sale:
Option 1: Distributing promotion codes
We will give you with special promotion codes that allows people to try Tutor.com for free or at a low cost. Your job is to spread the codes around, give demonstrations, and encourage people to try Tutor.com for themselves. You will have access to marketing collateral and can create and use materials you design—as long as we approve them first.
Option 2: Organizing fundraisers
You can utilize our Tutor.com fundraiser module and marketing materials to connect with PTA's, PTO's, and other education focused organizations who typically use fundraisers to earn money for supplies and special events. This turnkey effort financially rewards both the organization and the independent sales rep while exposing students to our award winning service.
Get paid for generating customers
Anytime someone creates a Tutor.com account using one of your special promotion codes and becomes a customer, we will compensate you at a rate of 50% of all their purchases for their first year as a customer, up to $300 of spending per customer.
The more people you get to try Tutor.com, the more money you’ll make
The amount that you will earn will correlate to the number of people who try Tutor.com using your promotion codes. It is likely that 25% of parents who try our service at your urging will become customers. (That percentage will be much higher when you do in-person demonstrations for those parents, and let them see for themselves that Tutor.com is incredibly convenient and a tremendous value.) Families that become customers generally spend between $25 and $600 per year with us, depending on how many kids they have, how much help their kids need in which subjects, how motivated their kids are to learn, and how much the parents can afford.
Getting started. What’s required
A $99 deposit is required to get started. We will return it to you as soon as you make your third sale in three months. (The three month clock starts ticking after you have been accepted and have received your sales materials.) The reason we require this deposit is that it costs time and money to create your account, run your background check and send your start-up kit.
Receive an ISR start-up kit
The kit includes:
- Detailed sales manual and FAQ sheet
- Trial cards and personal promotion codes
- A promo code good for more than 100 minutes of Tutor.com, so you can try our service
- Access to online orientation modules
- Ongoing tips and ideas via our online community for Tutor.com ISRs
- An invitation to join our online ISR community where you can share ideas and communicate with other reps

Working with other companies
It is okay if you currently work as an independent sales rep for another company such as Mary Kay or Pampered Chef. We love that you have previous experience with this type of marketing. So long as those other companies are not selling online tutoring, you are welcome to represent them as well as us. In fact, you may find that working for them and for us helps you sell more of both.
